When we last saw Mizu (voiced by Maya Erskine), Blue Eye Samurai’s mixed-race master of the sword was sailing toward London to find the two remaining men who might be her father. That’s exactly where we’ll pick up in Season 2 of the Emmy Award–winning animated series from creators, executive producers, and writers Amber Noizumi and Michael Green.

As revealed in the above teaser, new episodes will arrive in January 2027. In the coming season, Mizu’s bloody quest continues in London, where she faces new friends, old foes, and her own demons. In Japan, Akemi (Brenda Song) and Taigen (Darren Barnet) navigate Edo Castle under a dangerous new shogun, while Ringo (Masi Oka) searches for a new purpose.

And Mizu’s journey has an end in sight. Blue Eye Samurai will come to an epic conclusion with Season 3 in 2028.

In the meantime, Noizumi and Green are keen to explore what Mizo’s violent venture looks like abroad in Season 2. “It would be an interesting part of Mizu’s personal journey to see how Europeans react to her,” Noizumi told Netflix in 2023. “What would she think of Western culture when she’s suddenly immersed in it? Are they all the monsters she thinks they are?”

Our animators, historians, musicians, martial artists, and voice cast made this a reality beyond our expectations,” Noizumi and Green told Netflix. “We are thankful to our entire team and to our viewers from all over the world who have shown such passion for Mizu and her path of revenge. Mizu has a lot more blood to spill! We are deeply grateful to our incredible partners at Netflix for letting the journey continue.”

Blue Spirit is the animation studio behind the Edo-period epic.
