The Guinness family is heading back to the tap — House of Guinness has been renewed for Season 2. “It was such a joy to bring the Guinness story to the screen, so I’m beyond thrilled to be continuing the story of one of the world’s greatest dynasties into Season 2,” says creator Steven Knight. “I can’t wait to dive deeper into these characters and their complex relationships as they expand the Guinness empire.”

On its return, the series will delve into the next chapter for 19th-century siblings Arthur (Anthony Boyle), Edward (Louis Partridge), Anne (Emily Fairn), and Benjamin (Fionn O’Shea), along with their spouses, lovers, foes, and friends, like family fixer Sean Rafferty (James Norton).

“There’s so much more to find out about them,” Knight tells Tudum. “We’ll see how they grow up because House of Guinness is about a family growing up together. Even in Season 1, they change quite a bit. In Season 2, it will be interesting to see what changes and what stays the same.”

House of Guinness Season 1 begins with the death of family patriarch Sir Benjamin Guinness (Graham Ashworth) in 1868. His progeny must quickly find their way and protect their empire of black gold — the iconic Guinness brewery. They are aided by Rafferty, who is also the factory’s powerful foreman. By the finale, the dysfunctional Guinnesses manage to come together to support Arthur’s political ambitions, despite all their complex feelings toward one another. However, the brood has never been in more grave danger: Patrick Cochrane (Seamus O’Hara), brother of Ellen Cochrane (Niamh McCormack), shows up to Arthur’s rally intent on assassinating the eldest Guinness brother.

The last sound we hear in the House of Guinness Season 1 finale is the blast of a pistol. Knight knows viewers will be curious about the fate of that gunshot when Season 2 debuts. “I want people to wonder where that bullet’s going to go,” Knight says. “I’m wondering where that bullet’s going to go.”

Knight is excited to continue to explore the fate of one of history’s most fascinating families — and all of their complicated romances and relationship. “In every generation, there’s an amazing story — more than one. There are loads of amazing stories,” he says. “The family remains eccentric, wild, brilliant, interesting, compelling — all the way through to now.”

See what’s next for House of Guinness when Season 2 debuts on Netflix. Until then, (re)watch the first season — and keep coming back to Tudum for all your news off the factory floor.
