Get ready to fall down the rabbit hole. The first sounds of the hallucinatory intro to 1899 strike an eerie chord, like you’ve heard them before. And as the industrial score goes on, the song becomes clear: it’s a twisted version of Jefferson Airplane's “White Rabbit” by created by Ben Frost and Eliot Sumner.

1899 comes from Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, the creative team behind Dark. This time-hopping German production conjures the same mind-bending puzzle work and striking visuals that earned Dark serious accolades.

The eight episodes of 1899 follow the mysterious circumstances around the voyage of an immigrant ship from Europe to New York. The passengers, all of different backgrounds and nationalities, are united by their hopes and dreams for a new century and future. When they discover a second ship adrift,  one which had been missing for months, their journey takes an unexpected turn. What they find on board will turn their passage to the promised land into a nightmare-like riddle, connecting each of the passengers’ pasts through a web of secrets.

Tudum exclusively presents the intro of 1899, which you can watch above.
