‘Derry Girls’ Season 3 Returns in October, Love

    Don’t rock the boat.

    Sept. 29, 2022

Suit up your plaid uniforms because we’re returning to Our Lady Immaculate Catholic School one last time for the third season of Derry Girls.

The comedy series wrapped up its run over the summer in the United Kingdom, and now it’s time for everyone else to bid farewell to the spunky bunch as they enter the show’s final season. Before embarking on one more round of adventures with Erin (Saoirse-Monica Jackson), Michelle (Jamie-Lee O’Donnell), Clare (Nicola Coughlan), Orla (Louisa Harland) and James (Dylan Llewellyn), press play on the supercut above of the girls’ greatest hits and get a sneak peek at what’s to come.

A person walks beside a horse-drawn covered wagon on a grassy field, surrounded by green trees and under a cloudy sky, evoking a historic pioneer or western setting.

Set in 1990s Northern Ireland, the coming-of-age series follows a group of friends at a girls’ secondary Catholic school during the final years of the Troubles. Surrounded by internal conflict and turmoil, the friend group still finds ways to have fun — such as accidentally drugging scones at a wake. Clearly, the key to surviving the Troubles is getting into some mischief of your own.

When we last saw the gang, James was choosing between staying in Derry or returning to England with his estranged mother. After proudly declaring himself a “Derry Girl” and bringing everyone to tears (it’s OK if you cried too), he decided to remain in Derry with his friends. Good news for everyone, because the trailer picks up right where we last left them. If their past mishaps tell us anything about the final season, it’s that no one’s going without an emotional and hilarious bang.

Derry Girls Season 3 starts streaming Oct. 7. Check out some photos below.
