    Meet the New ‘Rebelde’ Class

    There’s another Colucci in town.

    Jan. 2, 2022

The halls of Elite Way School are about to get rebelde again. When the original Mexican telenovela Rebelde launched in 2004, the series created international superstars out of the band within the show, RBD, comprised of Mía Colucci (Anahí), Miguel Arango (Alfonso Herrera), Roberta Pardo (Dulce María), Diego Bustamante (Christopher von Uckermann), Guadalupe “Lupita” Fernández (Maite Perroni), and Giovanni Méndez (Christian Chávez).

Now the next generation of Elite Way students are teaming up to win the Battle of the Bands. Say bienvenidos to the new Rebelde class:

She has also graced the covers of Imaginary, Socialiteen, and Ponny. Off screen, Guaita is an ambassador for Lazarena jewelry. Her connection to Rebelde runs deep, as she posted a childhood photo of herself wearing the Rebelde uniform and hugging Anahí, who played Mía Colucci on the original Mexican telenovela, on Instagram

The rebel: Estebán Torres, a virtuoso who mysteriously blew off a conservatory, is at EWS in order to find himself — and some answers about his past.

His mother Bárbara Mori originated the titular Rubí on the Mexican telenovela Rubí (2004), and his father is the actor and politician Sergio Mayer. Mori has appeared on screen with both his parents, with his mother in Against the Wind (2011) and with his father on the series Como dice el dicho (2014). Mori can also be seen in The Patriarch (2016). Aside from acting, Mori has released original music, which you can listen to on Spotify: “Green Eyes” (2015) and “Wicked Game” (2018). As a model, he’s been featured on the cover of Percha magazine and in spreads with The Guest.

Previously, she appeared in the series No Fue Mi Culpa: México and sang in the reality competition show La Voz Kids México. Chaparro took to the stage in a production of Mary Poppins as well. A painter and aerial artist, Chaparro is also the daughter of actor and host Omar Chaparro.

Jerónimo Cantillo is Dixon

The rebel: Guillermo “Dixon” Álvarez, a rapper and beatboxer from Colombia, wants to maintain his street cred and make it as “Dixon,” not Guillermo. The rainbow nails and skunk mohawk are seriously working for him.

The backstory: Born in Colombia, Jerónimo Cantillo made his on-screen debut in Amor de Carnaval in 2012, but his breakthrough came in his starring role portraying real-life singer Kaleth Morales on the TV series Los Morales, leading to cover stories for Revista Mundo Caribe and 15 Minutes, to boot. Additionally, he has appeared in the Colombian series Aníbal ‘Sensación’ Velásquez, Tormenta de Amor and Verdad Oculta. Cantillo has also released a number of tracks as a musician, including “Weekend,” “Te Tuve,” and “Huracán.” His songs are available on Spotify.

Lizeth Selene is Andi

The rebel: Andrea “Andi” Agosti cannot get away from her mom and her rude boyfriend fast enough when she steps foot on the EWS campus. A rocker at heart, this drummer scoffs at any rulebook, from what she wears to whom she dates in between rehearsing for Battle of the Bands.

The backstory: Before enrolling at EWS, Lizeth Selene first appeared in a Netflix project with the comedy Bankrolled (2021), but playing Andi in Rebelde is poised to be Selene’s breakout role. The Acapulqueña is a notable model, having posed in campaigns for Nike, Forever 21, Converse, MAC Cosmetics, and Bissú Cosmetics, in addition to spreads in Elle México and Meow! Mag and cover stories for Vogue Belleza, DNA Magazine, and L’Officiel México. Selene began releasing songs in 2020, with singles including “Sin Ti,” “Pa Darle,” and “3 Para Las 10,” in addition to collaborating with Ghetto Kids and Mad Fuentes on “Muévelo, Sacúdelo.” Her music is available to stream on Spotify.

His very first TV spot was for El Dandy and stage role was in Yo Soy Dios, and he’s also set to appear in the films Look at Me and MexZombies. Puente has been featured in Bad Hombre, Dapper Tapper, and Purple Fashion

The socials: You can follow Alejandro Puente on Instagram, Tik Tok, and Twitter. He frequently posts BTS footage from the Rebelde set and photo ops with his castmates, including their group trip to Los Angeles.

Giovanna Grigio is “Emilia”

The rebel: Emilia Alo, the most popular girl at EWS, wants to win the Battle of the Bands more than anything her senior year.

Grigio has performed in a number of telenovelas in Brazil, including Êta Mundo Bom!, and starred in the films Eu Fico Loco (2017) and Cinderela Pop (2019). She joined the 25th season of long-running soap opera Malhação: Viva a Diferença as Samantha, a teenager whose lesbian kiss in the series was a huge moment of LGBTQIA representation in Brazil, and reprised the part for the spinoff, As Five, which catches up with the characters six years later. Grigio recorded songs for the soundtracks of both Chiquititas and Malhação, which are available on Spotify. She has been in editorial spreads for TodaTeen, Capricho, Revista Cabelos, Vogue Brasil, and Glamour Brasil, in addition to campaigns with Reebok Brasil, Zaxy, and co-creating a hair care line with Seda.
