New on Netflix in May 2026

Stream Remarkably Bright Creatures, Swapped, plus new seasons of The Four Seasons, Perfect Match, and more.

    By Ashley Lee
    April 30, 2026

The film adaptation of Remarkably Bright Creatures stars Sally Field as Tova, a solitary widow who works at a local aquarium. While wiping the tanks’ windows and cleaning the exhibits’ floors, she forms an unlikely bond with a giant Pacific octopus — a friendship that helps her open up to others around town for the first time.

“It’s a joy to see people every day,” Ethan, a local grocer played by Colm Meaney, tells her. “Watching people’s lives change.”

The new movies and series available to stream this month offer plenty of opportunities to meet characters who grow and evolve in delightful directions. Take Swapped, for example: The animated movie sees Michael B. Jordan voicing a woodland creature and Juno Temple a regal bird, two animals who suddenly find themselves in the body of their sworn enemy — a situation that yields invaluable lessons about themselves and each other.

Look for more unexpected developments in Ladies First, a comedy starring Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike in an alternate reality where women hold all the power; and Marty, Life Is Short, a documentary that tracks the spirited life and career of the actor and comedian Martin Short. And nothing says growth like the ability to take a joke, as proven in The Roast of Kevin Hart, streaming live from Netflix is a Joke Fest in Los Angeles.

This month’s lineup also includes the thrilling heist series Nemesis, a new four-part take on Lord of the Flies, and the docuseries Rafa about the legendary tennis player Rafael Nadal. And be sure to add the new seasons of A Good Girl's Guide to MurderThe Four SeasonsDr. Seuss’s Horton!Perfect Match, and Worst Ex Ever to your watchlist.

Scroll on for all the titles coming to Netflix in May.
