New series The Empress tells the story of how the beloved Empress Elisabeth of Austria — better known as Sisi — shook up the Habsburg court during her marriage to Emperor Franz Joseph in the mid-1800s. Sporting her signature long hair and a closet full of ornate, corseted dresses, Sisi (Devrim Lingnau) became a fashion icon — and this video and photo gallery of her best looks from the sumptuous German period drama make it easy to see why.

There are structured blazers, voluminous skirts, ballooning sleeves, feathered headpieces, veils, gloves, buttons, bows and shawls — all in six drama-filled episodes.
