A new letter has arrived in the mailbox; it looks like The Watcher is back.
In the first season of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s The Watcher, Nora (Naomi Watts) and Dean Brannock (Bobby Cannavale) move into what they think is their dream home, only to find themselves trapped in a waking nightmare as mysterious and threatening letters begin to arrive. Someone is watching the Brannocks, and the entire neighborhood is suspect.
Now Watts and Cannavale are back for Season 2, which will follow the Brannocks in the wake of Season 1’s ambiguous finale. Also returning are Margo Martindale and Isabel Gravitt, as Maureen (”Mo”) and Ellie Brannock. The real-life case that The Watcher is based on remains unsolved — so no one knows what will happen next.
The first season of The Watcher spent five weeks on the Global Top 10 English TV list and hit the Top 10 in more than 90 countries. Season 2 is now in production, with executive producers including Ryan Murphy, Ian Brennan, Crystle Roberson Dorsey (who also serves as director), Nissa Diedrich, Karl Frankenfield, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, Todd Kubrak, Tanase Popa, Sara Stelwagen, Naomi Watts, Henry Joost, Ariel Schulman, Eric Newman, and Bryan Unkeless.
Murphy and Brennan’s true-crime anthology series, Monster, is one of Netflix’s biggest franchises with over 320 million views across seasons. The first installment, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, remains Netflix’s seventh most popular series of all time, and all four installments of Monster have reached No. 1 on the Global Top 10. The fourth installment, Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, has held the No. 1 spot on the Global Top 10 English TV list since its premiere on Sept. 17, already earning 26.6 million views and reaching the Top 10 in 92 countries to date.
Stay tuned for more information, and keep your eyes peeled for the Watcher.
