Editor’s note: If you or someone you know has experienced domestic abuse, information and resources are available at www.wannatalkaboutit.com.

Intimate partner violence is often insidious. Abusers come in many forms; they can be loving partners and pathological liars, outwardly friendly and terrifying at home, soft-spoken and controlling. Those who experience it never enter into the relationships thinking they’ll bring anything but happiness, and it can take months to years for the perpetrators to reveal their true colors. The new true crime series Worst Ex Ever documents four instances of relationships gone extremely wrong due to violent, deceitful partners. From director Cynthia Childs and Blumhouse Television (Worst Roommate Ever), the series details the accounts through interviews with survivors, victims’ families, and investigators.
