Michael Keaton, Fred Armisen, Joan Baez, and personal finance columnist Jessica Roy were the first panelists to join Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney, welcomed to the stage by Richard Kind, who returns as show announcer. Mulaney was also joined by the one and only King Latifah (played to stoic perfection by Tracy Morgan), as well as roughly a dozen Willy Lomans (including the legendary Christopher Lloyd). To end the first episode, musical guest Cypress Hill along with a 17-piece orchestra performed “Hits from the Bong.”

Everybody's Live with John Mulaney kicked off Episode 2 with performances by Grammy-nominated solo artist Kim Gordon and solo artist Kim Deal, founding member of the Pixies and the Breeders. Mulaney and Richard Kind honored the courageous efforts of No Limit Soldiers’ Lieutenant General Silkk the Shocker, and dove into this week’s topic (cruise ships) with guest panelists Ben Stiller, Nick Kroll, Quinta Brunson, and cruise industry expert Anne Kalosh. As always, Mulaney took live calls during the show — and even had to hang up on one of them, which you can watch in the clip above.

Keeping with the nautical theme, Rabbi David broke down the plot of one of his favorite movies, Crimson Tide. Additionally, Saturday Night Live alum Vanessa Bayer made a surprise appearance on this week’s episode playing a Netflix AI assistant.

Bookending Episode 2 was a final musical act: Gordon and Deal performed together for the first time, playing “Little Trouble Girl” by Gordon’s previous band Sonic Youth.

Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney returned for the third week in a row to discuss the very important task of funeral planning. After the host’s monologue, the inimitable Pete Davidson and Luenell were welcomed to the couch to discuss funeral direction but it very quickly veered off course when Luenell asked Pete Davidson to take her out. She just wants to figure out the mystique! Henry Winkler and licensed funeral director and embalmer Raymundo Perez-Plascencia then joined the panel to get a deeper understanding of what funeral direction requires. Actor Joe Manganiello and news anchor Willie Geist helped spread the very important message about “Know Your H” while the show’s announcer, Richard Kind, televised his will. And, making their television debut, Mannequin Pussy closed out the show by performing their hit song “Everybody.”

After sharing a story about how he was swindled by what he is pretty sure was a fake manager for Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, host John Mulaney was joined by guests Wanda Sykes and John Waters to discuss the evening’s topic, squatting. Randall Park made a PSA  asking men to please #KnowYourH. Stavros Halkias and former acting Solicitor General of the United States Neal Katyal joined the panel, and Katyal helped explain what exactly constitutes squatter’s rights. Sitting courtside was Nashville-based rapper Jelly Roll, played to perfection by Aidy Bryant, who proved that she doesn’t, in fact, know any Jelly Roll songs. Daniel Hope with New Century Chamber Orchestra closed the show out performing “Spring One.”

Tonight’s topic was getting fired, and at the top of the show, host John Mulaney explained why you should never take advice from Ray Lewis. Chelsea Peretti and Bill Hader were welcomed to the panel to discuss a time when they were fired (and to discuss Bill Hader attending Community College out of state). They were later joined by Johnny Knoxville, who admitted he’s terrible at firing people except for when he used to get drunk and fire the entire cast and crew of Jackass, forget about it, and the entire cast and crew would return to work the next day. Human Resources & Employee Coach Catie Maillard, who has fired over 200 people, explained how most of her job in HR is not about firing people. However, she was kind enough to demonstrate to the panel how to fire someone and give some helpful tips. To close out the show, Bartees Strange performed “Sober” from his new album “Horror.”

It was Height Night at Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney. That’s right: It was finally time for everyone to #KnowYourH, know your height. For the first time in history, this was the show that was able to line men up in a perfectly diagonal line from 5 feet to 6 feet, 11 inches, thanks to the last-minute save by 6-foot Jimmy Kimmel. The accomplishment was celebrated with confetti filling the studio. David Letterman, Leanne Morgan, Hannibal Buress, and Nikki Glaser joined the panel to discuss how tall they really are — and this group is tall. Letterman was measured live on television. He is officially 6 feet, 1 half-inch tall (the exact same height as our host, John Mulaney). Leanne Morgan is 5 feet, 8 inches. Nikki Glaser is 5 feet, 9 inches, and Hannibal Buress is 5 feet, 10 inches, but he has boat legs so he should be 6 feet, 1 inch. At 6 feet, Randy Newman closed out the show with a performance of “I Think It’s Going to Rain Today.”

What did we learn on the April 23 episode of Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney? First, modern dinosaurs are birds. Second, Conan O'Brien and John Mulaney know more about dinosaurs than anyone else — and it’s a good thing, too, because the topic of the episode was “are dinosaur fossils put together correctly?” After debating who knows more, Ayo Edebiri was welcomed to the panel and asked the question on everyone’s minds: How do we know what colors dinosaurs are from just their bones? Tina Fey surprised the panel and let the audience know she's an honorary board member at the Museum of Natural History in New York City but also came with a shocking reveal: She doesn't really know much about dinosaurs. To end the show, Canadian punk rock band Metz reunited for one night only. 

On the April 28 episode of Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney, John and Richard were joined by … Phish? As Seinfeld? Anyways, that happened, but the main event was really a robust discussion surrounding a central question: Can surgery be fun? Should John have surgery? Anesthesiologist Dr. Emily Methangkool was on hand all night to help John Mulaney and his panelists figure this out. 

Ronny Chieng and Molly Shannon were the first guests to join the panel. According to Dr. Emily, she prefers general anesthesia, as it’s more controlled, and after surgery she prefers a ham sandwich. Ronny Chieng broke his arm when he was 10 years old, which healed badly, and so doctors had to break his arm to fix it, and put him under anesthesia. Because he couldn't use one of his arms for nine months, he became ambidextrous. And yes, he proved it on live television. Maggie Rogers and the music icon John Cale joined the panel to discuss their surgery tales before performing for the crowd. Marc Maron joined the panel to discuss his father’s profession: orthopedic surgeon. Brutal. He shared a story about some father/son bonding when he was growing up. Marc's dad brought him to a surgery and … he was never the same after seeing what he saw. Again, brutal. But Dr. Emily Methangkool did share that orthopedic surgeons are typically very athletic because of all the hammering. And all doctors have a God complex.
