Morgan Spector (The Gilded AgeThe Plot Against America) will step into the shoes of Harvard professor and world-renowned symbologist Robert Langdon in Netflix’s upcoming adaptation set in the world of best-selling author Dan Brown’s The Secret of Secrets. The currently untitled mystery series comes from Brown and co-creator Carlton Cuse (LostTom Clancy’s Jack Ryan), with Cuse serving as showrunner and writer.

“Morgan is a truly wonderful actor whose work is always filled with intelligence, thoughtfulness, and humanity,” Cuse tells Tudum. “He’s the perfect fit for Robert Langdon — a brilliant academic whose curiosity, intelligence, and intellect are the tools of his trade.”

The series will follow Langdon as he races against ancient forces — and the clock — to rescue a missing scientist and recover her groundbreaking manuscript, the contents of which could forever change humanity’s understanding of the mind. Blending futuristic science with mystical lore, the adaptation will deliver the suspense, jet-setting intrigue, and era-spanning mysteries that have made Brown’s Langdon novels a global phenomenon.

Published by Doubleday in 2025, The Secret of Secrets is the sixth of Brown’s novels to feature Robert Langdon. The character first appeared in Angels & Demons in 2000, followed by The Da Vinci CodeThe Lost SymbolInferno, and Origin. Since the worldwide success of The Da Vinci Code, Robert  Langdon, whose eidetic memory and puzzle-solving abilities help him unravel mysteries at the intersection of science and spirituality, has become one of the most recognizable protagonists in contemporary literature.

“The chance to work with Dan Brown to bring Robert Langdon into a new chapter on screen is a genuine thrill,” says Cuse. “I was drawn in by the combination of exciting elements. It’s a propulsive thriller set in a fantastic location: Prague. It's also a great love story, and a provocative exploration of human consciousness. The chance to tell a story that operated on so many different levels really excited me as a storyteller.”

Brown’s work has sold more than 250 million copies in 56 languages, while the Robert Langdon film franchise has grossed approximately $2.24 billion worldwide. Cuse says of Brown’s novels, “They’re incredibly propulsive. They’re also deeply thoughtful and full of big ideas. But they don’t fit easily into the two-hour movie form. The chance to adapt one as an eight-hour series felt like an opportunity to fully realize the breadth and scope of what Dan does on the screen in the best possible way.”

Cuse’s previous television credits include LostTom Clancy’s Jack RyanLocke & KeyBates Motel, and Five Days at Memorial. Cuse and Brown will executive produce the series alongside Emma Forman for Genre-Arts and Zoe Robyn.

The project joins Netflix’s growing collection of book-to-screen adaptations, including His & HersBridgertonThe Queen’s GambitLeave the World BehindPeople We Meet on VacationFrankenstein, and 3 Body Problem.

Stay tuned for more clues about the forthcoming series.
