Hold onto your wigs, dear readers. After premiering on March 25, Bridgerton Season 2 has been watched a total of 251.7 million hours, breaking a new record for the most hours viewed in a week for an English-speaking series. From slow burns to major blowups, things are really shaking up in the ton this season. Also causing a stir in this week’s Global Top 10 are the dinosaurs of The Bubble. In its first weekend since premiering last Friday, Judd Apatow’s new dark comedy is the second most-streamed English-speaking film with 12.4 million total hours viewed.
In the film, a group of actors and filmmakers are quarantined in a bubble as they attempt to shoot a dinosaur franchise sequel during a pandemic. “I would take these long walks every day with a friend, to keep my sanity,” Apatow told Netflix when asked about his inspiration. “One day, I said, ‘Maybe I should think of an idea?’ So, just as an exercise, I started outlining different ideas for TV shows and movies with no thought that I would make any of them.” Inspired by the NBA’s quarantine bubble and the production of the new Jurassic World sequel shutting down due to a COVID-19 outbreak on set, The Bubble was born.
A pandemic isn’t the only catastrophe taking over Netflix. With a total of 24.3 million hours viewed, Spanish film All Hail leads this week’s non-English films after premiering on March 30. Miguel Flores (Guillermo Francella) was one of the most famous meteorologists in Argentina. After failing to predict a destructive hailstorm, the weatherman becomes the country’s public enemy No. 1 and flees to his hometown to find himself. Following All Hail is Swedish thriller Black Crab, which is in its third week in the Global Top 10. Want to see what everyone else is streaming?
