Now that the Olympic flag has left Paris on its way to Los Angeles for the 2028 games, the work continues. In the meantime, the second part of doc series SPRINT just premiered on Netflix, so you can relive the magic of the 2024 games.

“It was perfect timing,” SPRINT Part 2 executive producer Warren Smith tells Tudum. “We pitched the series without the Olympics. It wasn’t a two-season deal when we began, but I think it quickly became clear that there was an opportunity for this arc to end in Paris 2024.”

Just as in Part 1, the latest installment takes you behind the scenes with elite athletes as they compete at the pinnacle of their sport at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, showing what it takes to dig deep, pull out your personal best on a global stage, and dominate on the track.

Who’s in SPRINT Part 2?

“This season introduces a lot of new characters from different countries,” says Smith. In addition to Americans Gabby Thomas, Noah Lyles, Fred Kerley, Twanisha 'TeeTee' Terry, Kenny Bednarek, and Melissa Jefferson, the series features Kishane Thompson, Shericka Jackson, and Oblique Seville of Jamaica and Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia, Letsile Tebogo of Botswana, and Lamont Marcell Jacobs of Italy.

What happens in SPRINT Part 2?

In the first two episodes of SPRINT Part 2, the show travels to Oregon and Jamaica ahead of national Olympic qualifying events. Regardless of the runners’ prior accomplishments, every one of them has to earn their spot on the Olympic team. The doc series captures every grueling moment of their road to Paris. The final two episodes take place at the Olympic Games themselves.

SPRINT features exclusive footage that goes far beyond the live telecast of the Paris Olympics, including backstage moments, like the intimate relationship between runners and the people who push them to be their best.

“I loved being present at the moments between coach and athlete,” co-executive producer Suemay Oram tells Tudum. “The pep talk they give them just before the race and what they say after it just says so much about their style and motivation and how you motivate people to achieve their best. I think that’s really inspirational to watch.”

Part 2 of SPRINT is executive produced by Paul Martin, James Gay-Rees, and Warren Smith of Box to Box Films (Full Swing, Formula 1: Drive to Survive, Tour de France: Unchained) in association with World Athletics and the Olympic Channel.
