Netflix has decided to tie the knot with The Hunting Wives for a second season. Now in production, Season 2 will welcome back much of the original cast, like Brittany Snow, Malin Akerman, and Margo’s wig, as well as some new faces, for another round of the unholiest matrimony.

The newest face to come to the East Texas town with secrets piled higher than a socialite’s hair on a humid day? That would be none other than Angel Reese. The two-time WNBA All-Star will be joining Season 2 in the co-starring role of Trainer Barbie.

Wives stars Snow as Sophie, a B̶o̶s̶t̶o̶n̶ Cambridge transplant who’s drawn into the wealthy, decadent world of Margo (Akerman), the wife of oil tycoon Jed Banks (Dermot Mulroney). (His political aspirations are only surpassed by his scandalous behavior.) Also along for the new batch of episodes: Jaime Ray Newman (Callie, Margo’s venomous sidekick), Evan Jonigkeit (Sophie’s husband, Graham), and George Ferrier (Brad, the hunky heartthrob embroiled in too many spoilers to describe!).

Two women in glamorous dresses sit on a red velvet chaise lounge in an elegant room, holding champagne glasses and posing confidently, creating a sophisticated and celebratory mood.

The cast will also include Karen Rodriguez (Deputy Salazar) and Hunter Emery (Deputy Flynn), who are back as series regulars, alongside guest star Branton Box as Sheriff Jonny, aka Callie’s husband.

Now it’s time to meet Season 2’s new recurring guest stars. In addition to Reese, there’s the previously announced John Stamos (Palm Royale, You, Big Shot) as Chase Brylan, Dale Dickey (Winter’s Bone, True Blood, Fallout) as Zelda Moffitt, Cam Gigandet (Violent Night, Burlesque) as Gentle John Moffitt, Kim Matula (Saturday Night, LA to Vegas) as Nadia Kelly, and Alex Fitzalan (The Wilds, Chevalier) as Lincoln Trout. Only time will tell what kind of trouble these Maple Brook newcomers will cause.

Members fell prey to the twisty Texan drama, which spent five weeks in the global English Top 10 TV List, amassing more than 20 million views during that period, even though it was only available in English. And after Wives’ release, May Cobb’s 2021 novel, on which the series is based, shot up to No. 4 on Amazon’s bestsellers list and No. 1 on its list of women’s psychological fiction.

The first season ended with body bags aplenty — no revelations here, but you can read all about the finale. The next installment will be a continuation of the storyline based on an original script. “I’m so excited to write these amazing characters again,” says executive producer Rebecca Cutter. “And I can’t wait to take the audience on another sexy, twisted, batshit crazy ride through Maple Brook.”

If you need to know more about Season 2 right now, the logline offers some tantalizing clues: “Sophie and Margo are on the outs. But soon enough, old secrets and new foes force them back together. As they play their dangerous games, the question arises: Are they the hunters or the hunted?” Regardless, they’ll be wearing designer boots and gowns.

Wives is created by Cutter and produced by Lionsgate and 3 Arts Entertainment. The second season will launch globally as a Netflix-branded series.

While you’re waiting for Season 2, you can (re)watch Hunting Wives Season 1 on Netflix now.
