The beards have gotten longer, the swords have gotten sharper. But nothing will prepare this brave band of Vikings from a fiery assault from above. In a Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 clip, our ragtag heroes Leif Erickson (Sam Corlett), his sister Freydis (Frida Gustavsson) and Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter) are on the run from a maelstrom of fireballs raining earthward.

The sneak peek debuted at Tudum: A Netflix Global Fan Event, which included first-look photos, never-before-seen footage, new trailers, behind-the-scenes access, celebrity appearances, interviews and more from over 100 of your favorite films, specials and series like Vikings: Valhalla

The inspired-by-history adventure tale, helmed by showrunner (and Die Hard scribe) Jeb Stuart, charts its course for a second journey unearthing a side of Vikings that goes far beyond the common conceptions of horned helmets and unmerciful conquerors.

But in the Tudum event clip, we witness terror. The power hungry Olaf Haraldsson (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson) has cornered the fleeing masses who, led by the warrior trio, escaped the massive attack on the Viking city of Kattegat. With their backs to the sea, a band of marauders bearing down and fire falling from the sky, their days seem numbered. But we’ve seen these Viking warriors pull off miracles before, from the long boat journey from Greenland to  the battle of London Bridge.

The series has been renewed for two more seasons, so more Viking adventures await just beyond the horizon. “I’m thrilled to be able to confirm that we wrapped Season 2 and that production will start soon on Season 3,” says Stuart. “While the storylines for Leif, Freydís, Harald, Olaf, Canute and the rest of our amazing cast are secret, I can say without hesitation that their journeys will be even more epic than what you’ve seen so far.”

Until then, perhaps practice your own berserker battle cry, channeling the psychedelic, tripped-out warriors while you make your kids lunch or wrap up an endless Zoom meeting.

Trust us, you won’t regret it.
