There’s no wrong way to throw a wedding. No matter the size, location, or flavor of the cake, a wedding is all about celebrating love. And because there are so many different ways to celebrate, there are just as many wedding movies. Whether you’re looking to watch Jennifer Lopez — star of Netflix’s Office Romance — play the titular The Wedding Planner, or watch perpetual members of the bridal party class get their own shot at happily ever after, like in 27 Dresses, there’s no shortage of wedding-themed romance films. Keep reading for these and more movies that boast a white dress, a (sometimes unorthodox) maid of honor, and an “I do” or two.

27 Dresses

Peak eldest daughter Jane Nichols (Katherine Heigl) is the definition of “always the bridesmaid, never the bride” in this rom-com directed by Anne Fletcher (The Proposal) and written by Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada). After being a bridesmaid in 27 weddings, Jane longs for her own fairy-tale ending. But her romantic prospects feel more doomed than ever after her boss and longtime crush, George (Edward Burns), falls for her carefree younger sister, Tess (Malin Akerman), and proposes. As Jane goes through the agonizing task of helping to plan their wedding, she forms a bond with jaded journalist Kevin Doyle (James Marsden), who encourages her to learn to say, “No,” and to live for herself. Judy Greer (13 Going on 30), Krysten Ritter (Stone Cold Fox), and Brian Kerwin (Murphy’s Romance) co-star.

Father of the Bride

When George Banks’s (Steve Martin) beloved daughter, Annie (Kimberly Williams-Paisley), returns home after a post-graduation trip to Europe, he’s shocked to learn that not only did she meet a guy (George Newbern) while abroad, but that they’re also engaged. As George and his unflappable wife, Nina (Diane Keaton), help Annie plan the whirlwind wedding, George does everything in his power to keep costs down. But will thinking too much about his wallet get in the way of his daughter’s happiness? This heartfelt comedy — co-written by Nancy Meyers (The Parent Trap) and based on the 1950 film and the 1949 novel of the same name — also stars Kieran Culkin (Succession) as Annie’s precocious younger brother and Martin Short (Marty: Life Is Short) as eccentric wedding planner Franck Eggelhoffer.

The movie’s sequel, Father of the Bride Part II, is also available to stream on Netflix.

Made of Honor

Tom (Patrick Dempsey) and Hannah (Michelle Monaghan) have been best friends since college. But just as incorrigible playboy Tom realizes that he’s been in love with Hannah for years, she meets a charming Scottish duke, Colin (Kevin McKidd), who proposes after just six weeks. Reeling, Tom agrees to be Hannah’s maid of honor, hoping to use their time together to stop the impending nuptials and make her realize that they’re the ones who are destined to be married. But is it too little too late? This rom-com also stars Kathleen Quinlan (Apollo 13), Chris Messina (The Mindy Project), Busy Philipps (Girls5eva), Whitney Cummings (The Ridiculous 6), and Sydney Pollack (Tootsie).

Meet the Parents

Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) is head-over-heels for Pam Byrnes (Teri Polo). So he’s happy to oblige when he learns that her father, Jack (Robert De Niro), needs to give his blessing before Greg can propose. If only it were that simple. As Greg and Pam travel to her family home for her sister’s wedding, Greg is put through the wringer as one (increasingly absurd) social blunder and interpersonal kerfuffle after another leads him to a potential blowout with his straitlaced future in-laws — and his one true love. Blythe Danner (Happiness for Beginners) and Owen Wilson (Marry Me) also star.

The comedy’s sequel, Meet the Fockers, and its threequel, Little Fockers, are also available to watch on Netflix.

Muriel's Wedding

Socially awkward ABBA superfan Muriel Heslop (Toni Collette) dreams of getting married. But finding the love of your life is difficult when your father (Bill Hunter), a ruthless politician, won’t let you date. After Muriel is ousted by her snooty friends in her small Australian hometown, Porpoise Spit, and befriends the confident Rhonda Epinstall (Rachel Griffiths), she sees a chance for a new life: Muriel steals a small fortune from her parents and runs away with Rhonda to Sydney. Once there, the pair work to reinvent themselves — through makeovers, name changes, and more — in the hopes of attracting their true loves. Jeanie Drynan (Don’s Party), Daniel Lapaine (Brokedown Palace), and Chris Haywood (Quigley Down Under) also star in this dramatic comedy, directed by P.J. Hogan (My Best Friend’s Wedding).

Rachel Getting Married

This drama, directed by Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs), stars Anne Hathaway (Colossal) as Kym Buchman, a young woman who’s temporarily released from rehab in order to attend her sister Rachel’s (Rosemarie DeWitt) wedding. Kym’s status as the black sheep only becomes more apparent the longer she sticks around, and it’s clear that some of her family members are unwilling to forgive her for the mistakes she’s made. But one disaster after another — including a blundered toast at the rehearsal dinner and an ill-fated run-in with someone from Kym’s past — leads to a greater question: Is Kym willing to forgive herself? The film, which earned Hathaway an Oscar nomination for Best Actress, also stars Bill Irwin (Interstellar), Debra Winger (The Ranch), and Tunde Adebimpe (Twisters).

The Wedding Date

Kat Ellis (Debra Messing) refuses to show up to her younger sister Amy’s (Amy Adams) wedding in London alone, in part because the best man (Jeremy Sheffield) is her ex-fiancé, who unceremoniously dumped her two years ago. Rather than face the music, she hires a male escort, the handsome, charismatic Nick Mercer (Dermot Mulroney), to pose as her new beau. But when Nick turns out to be a little too good at convincing everyone they’re an item, Kat also finds herself falling for his charms. Based on Elizabeth Young’s novel Asking for Trouble, this rom-com also stars Holland Taylor (The Chair), Peter Egan (Unforgotten), and Jack Davenport (The Forsytes).

The Wedding Planner

Jennifer Lopez (Office Romance) and Matthew McConaughey (The Gentlemen) lead this rom-com about wedding planner Mary Fiore (Lopez), who has one final ceremony to manage before she lands a big promotion. When she’s saved from a potentially fatal accident by a handsome pediatrician, Dr. Steve Edison (McConaughey), with whom she shares an instant connection, it seems like her life is finally on track. That is, until she learns that Steve is the groom whose wedding she’s overseeing. Will Steve go through with his marriage to the ultra-wealthy Fran Donnelly (Bridgette Wilson-Sampras), or is there something undeniably special about the wedding planner? Judy Greer (13 Going on 30), Fred Willard (Space Force), Alex Rocco (The Godfather), and Justin Chambers (Grey’s Anatomy) co-star.
