The premise of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On is simple. The relationships? Not so much.

In Season 4, the trial marriages crossed boundaries, and jealousy crept into nearly every pairing. For two couples in particular, it built to a breaking point, and a late-night confrontation that has since been nicknamed “Fight Night.” Not every relationship made it to the end of the experiment, as Jebin’s missteps ended up costing Alex her spot. But for the others, the chaos of the process turned into something more constructive: real growth, on camera and off.

So who actually got engaged in the finale? Who’s still together a year later? And what’s happened since the reunion? Here’s where everyone stands now — including one wedding.

The Ultimatum Season 4 Deleted Scenes: Never-Before-Seen Dates and Confessions

Casey and David

Thanks to Nick Lachey, the two are now legally married. Wait, let’s back up. 

After getting engaged, the new fiancés went home to celebrate with their families. Casey’s dad had been patiently waiting for the news — “‘Finally!” was his immediate response, according to Casey — and was thrilled his daughter could finally replace her many promise rings with one big diamond. David’s mom was so moved by his personal growth that she told him, “You made me believe in love again.” 

David tells Tudum that he emerged from the experiment with greater self-awareness and “a much deeper appreciation for what it truly takes to build and sustain a powerful connection.” He realized sharing his inner world with his partner “isn’t a burden, it’s a bridge” that only brings them closer. Learning that lesson in his trial marriage made his relationship with Casey feel even more secure and authentic. The experience also taught them how to fight with each other. “How we argued was really unproductive,” Casey admits at the reunion. Now, they lead with communication and respect. 

The lovebirds have a big wedding planned along the Amalfi Coast in September, but legally they had to marry in the United States first. On the way to the reunion, the couple picked up a marriage license and asked Nick — already ordained — to marry them right there. 

Luke and Monica 

All is right in the world: Luke still thinks Monica walks on water. “I’ve always believed she’s the girl for me,” Luke says. “I’ve been so excited for her to be my wife for so long. But I’m now in a place where I’m excited to be her husband, and everything that comes with it.” 

The two have spent the past year chasing success and adventure. “We’ve traveled together more than we’ve ever done,” Monica shares at the reunion. “It’s been our best year yet.” To top it off, Luke reproposed on their fifth anniversary — just the two of them and hundreds of rose petals. 

In a tense moment at the reunion, Luke shares that he felt David went too far with his flirting with Monica in their trial marriage. “In the moment, I laughed it off because that’s how I avoid conflict, but I’m not laughing today,” he says. David apologized, and the two happy couples quickly reconciled.  

The experiment brought out a new level of confidence in Luke. “I had an insecurity about this woman I love, so I sent her off to date the rest of you to confirm that she does like me,” he says to the men. “She still chooses me at the end of this.” 

This self-assurance has followed him into this career as well. He’s been promoted from server to restaurant manager, and also received certification to apply to become a lineman. “I no longer just have a plan A, I also have a plan B and a plan C,” Luke says. 

Blake

Blake and Hayley broke up four months after their engagement. Looking back, Blake describes the proposal itself as a coin flip. “That proposal, I was 60-40. I didn’t know totally if I was going to propose,” he shares at the reunion. 

He says his competitive nature pushed him to try to meet every one of Hayley’s needs until he became exhausted. “It was a hard realization that we might just have a compatibility issue if she couldn’t meet me in the middle or try to understand my perspective,” he tells Tudum. 

Despite it all, Blake doesn’t regret issuing the ultimatum. “I definitely feel like it was the right call,” he says. “I think Hayley and I would have been dating for years more and not gotten the answers that we needed that the experience gave us.”

The two had the opportunity to sit down and talk for a few hours in the hotel lobby after the reunion. “We still disagree on certain parts of how our relationship ended, but I’ll always have a lot of love for Hayley,” he says. “I’m really happy we were able to reconnect after a long time apart.”

Hayley

By the time Hayley and Blake sat across from each other at the reunion, they hadn’t spoken in eight months. And by her account, it was far from a reconciliation. “There’s so much more context to the things he was saying that I didn’t get to speak about [at the reunion],” she tells Tudum. “I know my truth, and I have proof.”

For starters, Hayley says she signed the affidavit as a favor to protect Blake’s public image, allegedly at his request. The reunion also revisited a painful moment post-breakup, when Hayley poured a drink on Blake’s head after finding him buying two women shots at the bar. 

“He also lied [at the reunion] about me punching him in the face,” she says. “You’re a psychopath if you have to lie to make yourself look good.” Hayley claims Blake apologized privately after the reunion, but that didn’t undo the public accusations: “You smear me publicly, you apologize to me privately,” she says. “That doesn’t sit well with me.”

The unexpected bright spot from the entire experience is a friendship she didn’t see coming. “The Ashley I experienced on the show was not the same Ashley I know now,” she says. “She’s selfless, selfless, selfless — such a selfless human being.” And then there’s Casey. The new best friends talk on the phone every day. “If anything good came out of it, it was Casey,” she says. “You can just tell when someone’s super genuine. And I’m not going to let that go.”

Killian

Killian says there wasn’t a single reason his relationship with Ashley ended. It was more of an accumulation of jealousy and miscommunication. He points to one specific example: He was holding a door open for Ashley while juggling grocery bags, let it go a beat too early, and was hit with, “Oh, I bet you’d hold the door for Hayley.”

Or, he would make a comment about Ashley and Blake, and they wouldn’t talk to each other for a day. “Ashley’s not too great at communication, so we would just sit there and not speak,” he tells Tudum. “We weren’t putting enough time into the actual person we were living with. We were just butting heads.”

He and Ashley have created some space since the breakup. “I still think we’re on good terms at the moment, but she and I both kind of set a boundary with each other,” he says. “It’s tough to stay speaking with one of your exes and lose feelings and move forward if you’re just still in communication.”

He says his behavior in the experiment was uncharacteristic. “That Killian on the show was just devastating and unreal,” he says, watching it back. “It’s embarrassing, honestly, the person I was. I’m a pretty calm and mature person.”

Killian credits his trial marriage with Hayley with helping him to absorb feedback. The same feedback Ashley had been giving him all along, just delivered differently. “When you hear it twice from two different people ... you’re like, okay, that could be me,” he says. Killian has spent the months since the experiment largely on his own. “I read, I cook, clean, I work out. I try to treat people as well as possible,” he says. “I would’ve loved everyone to see the person I am now instead of that person.”

Ashley 

Ashley called off her engagement to Killian roughly two months after the proposal. Walking away was the hardest choice Ashley has ever made, but it was also the healthiest — ending a “constant cycle” she’d been trying to break for years. 

At the reunion, she alleges a pattern that went well beyond jealousy, including an incident in which Killian broke her phone and her parents had to fly down, and claims he was still “rage texting” her as recently as two months before the reunion. “Empty promises, lies, excuses, and repeated patterns that never truly changed,” she tells Tudum. “My biggest mistake was continuing to accept it because I loved him.” 

Ashley’s trial marriage with Blake opened her eyes to what she was missing in her relationship with Killian. “Sometimes when you’re deeply in love, you can become blind to things that seem so obvious from the outside,” she says. “[The trial marriage] gave me the confidence to stand on my own two feet.”

Now, Ashley is done with falling in love with potential. “This experience and the people I shared it with taught me how to stand up for myself and what I deserve,” she says. “I’m excited to move forward with a much clearer understanding of what I bring to a relationship.” 

Edris

Edris surprised everyone when he proposed to Jessica Grace during the change ceremony after he got up to leave, only to return with a ring. But Edris claims it wasn’t an impulsive decision.

Despite his fear and uncertainty, the choice to propose was “rooted in love” and a desire to protect their relationship. “I knew I wasn’t going to leave the experience without my best friend,” Edris tells Tudum. 

When the two got home, they started couples counseling, but the relationship ultimately came apart over unresolved trust issues. “We had fallen into a cycle where we were both hurting each other,” he says.

He didn’t wait too long to shoot his shot with a different Ultimatum Giver. At the reunion, Jessica Grace accuses him of developing a “sexual attraction” to Alex even as he criticized her for being “too friendly” with other men. Edris confirms he texted Alex while working through things with Jessica Grace (“Yeah, I hit on her”), though he maintains he did nothing he considers inappropriate.

Now, the two are no longer in contact. “I genuinely wish her the best,” he says. 

Jessica Grace 

“Surreal” is how Jessica Grace describes Edris’s proposal. “At that moment, there was so much tension that I thought Edris was completely walking off the set out of frustration,” she tells Tudum. The prior week of dating had been emotionally draining, and while she was elated to be engaged, she didn’t know it would mean heading home early. 

“I would have liked to have completed the experience fully because I think I would have enjoyed the lessons that it manifested for so many of the couples who have completed their trial marriages throughout the show’s history,” Jessica Grace says. Perhaps it could have saved them from what came next. 

As Jessica Grace describes it at the reunion, the happy nuptials she hoped for never came: “As soon as the cameras were off, he didn’t touch me, he didn’t kiss me, we didn’t speak until the next day. I felt like that should’ve been a moment of celebration ... and it wasn’t that.”

Now, she describes her relationship with Edris as “strained at best.” She says she was shocked by how heated it got between them at the reunion. “You don’t have that level of intensity if there’s nothing to resolve,” she says. “So maybe there will be a chance to make amends down the line. Who knows?” 

Jebin

Jebin’s time in the experiment was brief but notable. Before being asked to leave, Jebin says he was surprised by how the room reacted to his confiscated note to Alex, especially given that — in his view — other couples were working through similar feelings of jealousy, just not on paper. “In the moment, it was like I shot somebody,” he tells Tudum. 

He was initially concerned he’d be “painted as the villain.” His fear was assuaged when he watched it back. “Yeah, I was really just having a good time, being funny and goofy,” he says. “I don’t know why I thought I would end up being portrayed as this bad guy. At the end of the day, I felt my true personality was shown.” 

But his thoughts weren’t contained to just one note. According to Jebin, he wrote a second note immediately after giving the first to Alex, intending to deliver it at the choice ceremony. He didn’t get the chance. “If you thought the first one was bad, I felt like the second one was way worse,” he says with a laugh. 

Despite the harsh words, the two remained on good terms immediately following their exit. “We recorded a video of us dancing and having a good time right after we got kicked off,” he says, adding that they stayed together for a few months before things “unraveled” over different expectations for the relationship. 

Now, he’s looking for a partner who can juggle caretaking responsibilities like cooking healthy meals while maintaining a gym habit. “Alex is a great caretaker too, but I think it’s a little bit harder for her because she works a job,” he says. 

Looking back, Jebin says he doesn’t regret writing either note. In fact, he believes getting kicked off was the best thing that could’ve happened to him — and led him to make bold changes, like relocating to Puerto Rico. “I really believe if I had stayed in the experience, I would’ve gotten married at the end,” he says. “I think it was like a fork in the road ... but I’m glad the way that it went.” 

Alex 

Alex and Jebin came into the experiment as one of the show’s longest-tenured couples — together for six years by the time filming wrapped — and left it in one of the most abrupt ways possible: They were kicked off after Jebin passed her a note. 

“When I first received it, I thought that it was going to be a whole love letter, and I was looking forward to reading it,” she tells Tudum. Once she began reading it out loud, her first concern was for Jebin. “I felt embarrassed for me, but also him, too.” 

She confirms she read the second note — the one Jebin never got to pass on camera — once the two were back at the hotel after being sent home, and says it echoed the first. Still, she doesn’t agree with those who claim Jebin was verbally abusive. “He was just very insecure,” she says. “He overthinks a lot about my past relationships, because he’s never had a relationship before me. So he goes insane mentally. And I was used to it.” 

Alex says the relationship didn’t actually end because of either note. “We got over it that night that we got kicked off,” she says. They returned home to new arguments, this time over Jebin’s expectations around finance and fitness. “I tried my best, but he still wasn’t happy,” she says. Two weeks after she ended things, Jebin decided to move to Puerto Rico. “I was hoping that I was going to get married to him,” she says. “It just sucked that it didn’t happen.” 

Addressing her role in the fallout between Jessica Grace and Edris, Alex says it caught her completely off guard. “When he reached out to me after the show, I was just confused, and it rubbed me the wrong way,” she says. Nothing about their brief time dating on the show gave her the impression he was interested in her. Since then, she says she’s cut him off entirely — he’s the only cast member she doesn’t follow — and remains firmly in Jessica Grace’s corner: “I support JG though, whatever she decides.”
