It’s not going overboard to state that viewers were enthralled by the new Keira Knightley-led mystery thriller The Woman in Cabin 10. The film, based on a novel by Ruth Ware, reached No. 1 on the English film list with 21.2 million views. Knightley plays Lo Blacklock, a journalist on assignment aboard a luxury yacht who is the sole witness to a possible murder. With its many waves of questions piling up, there’s no abandoning this ship before the film’s climactic and unguessable ending

In the spirit of the season of chillsMonster: The Ed Gein Story claimed the No. 1 spot on the English TV list, rising to the top in its second week with 20.7 million views. In the latest entry of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s Monster anthology series — which ushers in spooky season each fall — Charlie Hunnam portrays the “Butcher of Plainfield.” He’s joined by a star-studded cast, including Vicky Krieps, Laurie Metcalf, Tom Hollander, Leslie Manville, Elliott Gould, Will Brill, and Addison Rae.

Winning over dog-lovers everywhere this week was Caramelo, a sentimental Brazilian film about a stray mutt who finds Pedro (Rafael Vitti), a chef with big dreams and some major life problems, just when he needs him most. Viewers grabbed their hankies and put the film at No. 1 on the non-English film list with 17.3 million views, making it the biggest premiere week for a Brazilian original Netflix film ever.

For more serial killer deep dives, viewers dove into frightening new fare, including the true crime documentary film My Father the BTK Killer, which reached No. 3 on the English film list (5.7 million views). In it, the notorious serial killer’s daughter shares her story of growing up with her father and the lurid revelation she’d come to learn.

The new series BOOTS, starring Miles Heizer and Vera Farmiga and executive produced by the late Norman Lear, showcases the humor and turmoil of being a closeted young gay person in the U.S. Marine Corps in the ’90s. The series debuted at No. 6 on the English TV list with 4.7 million views and is inspired by Greg Cope White’s memoir The Pink Marine. With its universal coming-of-age themes, the show is already building buzz among critics.

Craving more fluffy friends, viewers put the Spanish comedy series Old Dog, New Tricks at No. 2 on the list with 5.2 million views. The series stars Luis Zahera as a rural veterinarian who reluctantly takes a job at a posh animal boutique that’s managed by his niece (Lucía Caraballo).

Set in Paris, the romance revolves around a French actor (Omar Sy of Lupin) and a down-on-her-luck waitress (Sara Giraudeau). This week, the all-new movie Swim to Me debuted at No. 4 on the list with 2 million views.
